One of the most trusted publications that autograph collectors rely on is "Autograph Magazine" This excellent magazine provides expert insights into autograph collecting. It also provides hundreds of free celebrity addresses to contact celebrities in each issue. The advertisers are trusted dealers and providers of authentic autographs and signed memorabilia.

Despite what you may have read elsewhere, there are extremely trustworthy and reliable autograph merchants on eBay! The key is to research the seller, their feedback rating, and most importantly - what type of authentication the item has.

While we're on that subject - there are many auctions that offer "reprint" or "preprint" autographed pictures. Keep in mind these are obviously not authentic, and merely copies of the original signed photo.

The purists will argue, but depending on the quality of the reproduction, these items can add to your collection at a significantly lower price or investment (however you want to look at it).

While a Babe Ruth autograph may be the cornerstone piece of a dream autograph collection, it comes with a significant price. A preprint autograph allows the casual collector the ability to display a coveted "autograph" at a fraction of the cost!
