Autographs at San Diego Stadium

by Rob I.

My father worked as head security guard many many years ago at the San Diego stadium and had gotten several signed base baseballs, bats, broken bats, footballs and shirts by different umpires, baseball teams and coaches, which a lot of the signed stuff went to my brother and nephew.

Our family was always going to the games free and we also got to go to the drag races free. As a child I used to ride my bike all over as dad walked making his rounds and one time my dad took me in while no one was present into Ray Kroc's press box it had red plush carpeting on the floor and on the walls and a big bed on the right side and mirrors on the ceiling and a huge bathroom and of course the windows to look down on the playing field with plush seats in front of the windows as a child I was in awe of seeing this and at that time Ray Kroc owned the San Diego Padres.

I also remember going into the empty locker rooms with dad and one time and only one time dad allowed me to walk out onto the playing field of green turf with him by one of the huge goal posts while he was making sure everything was secure...

I have so many fond memories of being there all the time with my father who is now deceased my fathers name was Herbert Charles Reichert. My handle is shyrobi@aol.com
