The Internet has changed the world of autograph collecting forever (along with everything else!). You can find free celebrity email addresses with a simple search on your favorite search engine. There are ways to find genuine email addresses for celebrities, depending on who they are and the field's they are in. For instance, if they have an official website or blog, there is likely a place to find email address contact info.

This has proved to be the best approach for many celebrity autograph collectors as you can be confident in who the email address belongs to.

From Mayors to Senators, and all the way to the President of the United States, you can easily find their email addresses online through their official websites. Most of them have a link you can click on to send a message. Why not ask for an autograph instead of offering your two cents about current events?

I would say over half of the requests I have made have resulted in authentic hand-signed autographs. Once you reach the Senate level, and beyond it's more likely you'll receive a preprint or autopen autographs due to the larger amount of requests they get.

I personally feel the best approach remains the old-fashioned way by finding someones address and sending a letter with a S.A.S.E.

Call it karma, but I prefer to send something to the person I am contacting, and provide the price of postage for signing for me. Another added benefit is when I want to send a specific item to have signed, and not receive their standard item.

Find E-mail Address Info - Foundations and Projects

Many celebrities and athletes have charities they are involved with, or even their own foundations where you can find e-mail address info on their website.

Perhaps a small donation to one of their interests would assist in getting that signature.

Offer to donate at least enough money to cover shipping and handling for a celebrity autograph - photo, card, etc.

I do believe email will continue to grow in the autograph collecting hobby in the years to come. Just remember to keep it real, and do your homework to search for free and find reliable celebrity e-mail addresses!
