Free Rickey Henderson Autographs

When I was about 14 years old, Rickey Henderson made a free promotional appearance at a sporting goods store near my house. My friends and I heard about it and showed up early with our baseball cards and photo's to be signed. When Rickey Henderson showed up, there were only about 25 people there, total! He would only sign 1 each, so we would get our 1, and then get back in line! It took a few cycles through when he finally asked my friend "Hey, haven't I signed for you already today?" to which he of course replied, "I don't think so?" Ha! We all ended up getting 4 or 5 autographs from Rickey, who really was nice and pleasant to everybody there. I know I've heard he is a tough signer these days, but he was great that day. |
