Signed Sports Memorabilia

Interest in signed sports memorabilia in recent years has created a market worth hundreds of millions of dollars per year.

The internet has helped contribute to this growth bringing collectors and dealers together on autograph sites, and sports memorabilia auction sites such as eBay.

One downside to the tremendous growth in the authentic autographed sports memorabilia market is the reluctance of athletes to sign certain items for free anymore.

Jerseys, baseballs baseball bats, helmets, and equipment are becoming very tough to get signed, especially from an "A" list athlete.

Lucrative exclusive signing deals with memorabilia manufacturers also may stipulate what, and how many, of an item a player can sign at a given event. For example, good luck getting Tiger Woods to sign anything with his picture on it in Sunday red.

I personally have bought authentic autographed sports memorabilia directly from athletes such as Chipper Jones and Nolan Ryan. Both gentlemen donate the proceeds to their foundations, and I know it's real. The prices are also reasonable compared to other sources.

Authentic autographed sports memorabilia is a great way to add variety to your autograph collection

Are you beginning to run out of wall space from all those signed celebrity photo's? One of the reasons I like collecting memorabilia is that with the exception of signed jerseys, they are relatively easy to display, and take up less space.

You can save money by opting for replica versions of jerseys, signed

nfl football helmets etc. instead of authentic. The replica's are virtually identical, and can be half the cost or less.
You need to protect your investment in any autograph, including memorabilia. See this page for information on baseball display cases specifically.

Another aspect of protecting your collection comes to obtaining an appraisal on the more valuable items in your collection.

Did you know that a signature can make baseball cards worth less than if they were unsigned? This has changed somewhat during recent years with baseball card manufacturers producing signed and game used cards, but an interesting aspect of the hobby to consider!
