Obtaining autographs from sports autograph signings and autograph shows provide collectors the opportunity to meet celebrities and athletes and get their autograph.

The upside to a sports memorabilia show is that they are a controlled environment, and you are virtually guaranteed to get a signature. Many people will also allow you to take a picture of them or with them if time permits.

I've found these member only tips to be invaluable when it comes to information on celebrity appearances at retail locations or events that are not advertised as prominently as a major show would be.

The Sports section of local newspapers also announce athlete appearances and free athlete signing events - such as the grand opening of a store, for instance.

I also will search for "sports autograph signings" "autograph events" and "autograph shows" routinely to stay informed. Many of these events can be held at baseball card shows , so be sure to keep an eye out for those in your area as well.
