Tiger Woods Autograph Collecting

Tiger Woods Autograph

Tiger has always been a relatively decent signer, but the overwhelming challenge with getting a Tiger Woods autograph is the huge demand.

With his "rockstar" status and continuing pursuit of Jack Nicklaus' major-tournament records, Tiger's is a premium signature, and a tough one to get at that.

Tiger walks as he signs, and usually tends to sign hats and tickets more frequently than other items such as photographs, magazines, or flags.

Like Arnold Palmer, and Jack Nicklaus before him, Woods soon stopped signing golf balls, even for fellow tour players, shortly after turning pro.

The reason they stopped signing golf balls is still speculation, though Palmer has cited he did so to combat forgeries.

I think it's mainly due to the difficulty of signing a golf ball - you actually have to turn the ball as you sign it.

It's unfortunate though, a bright white golf ball signed with a black sharpie has a dramatic contrast to it. Some of the other players on tour will still sign golf balls, but it's hit and miss at best to know who will or wont, depending on their mood.

Tiger Woods Signing Autographs

What it's like trying to get a Tiger Woods autograph in person!

So, if it's so tough to get him in-person, that way to go is through the mail, right? Hardly. Don't bother sending autograph requests to Tiger Woods house (the old or new one), or even his yacht, as he simply does not sign through the mail.

When he first turned professional, he did sign through his agent, IMG. Now autograph requests are answered with a (nice) preprint autographed photo from Upper Deck.

Like Michael Jordan, Tiger signs exclusively through Upper Deck, and autograph prices can get pricey.

My best advice to get an in-person autograph is to go to the Wednesday Pro-Am day of a golf tournament, and with a little luck you just might be able to get one after he finishes his round.

Tiger Woods Masters Autographs

I personally consider collecting Tiger Woods Masters autographs a two-for-one type scenario since both Tiger Woods and Masters golf tournament related golf memorabilia are such highly sought after golf collectibles.

"Can I get Tiger Woods Masters autographs myself in-person?"

Short answer = yes.

The longer answer is, maybe. The hardest part of getting Tiger's autograph at The Masters golf tournament is getting a ticket to the tournament itself!

The best days to get Masters golf autographs is during the practice rounds. But even on these days, the players are forbidden from signing autographs during their rounds. And, tickets for the practice rounds are even very difficult to obtain, and are drawn from a lottery each year.

If you are lucky enough to be at the Masters you can try to get Tiger's autograph by the driving range or practice green. Luck is going to be the key word, I'm afraid as the players just don't sign like they do at other golf tournaments.
