Vintage Sports Memorabilia
Collecting vintage sports memorabilia is a fun and fascinating hobby.
Do you have old magazines that have been sitting around in the garage or attic for decades? What about old sports equipment, hats, and jerseys sitting in the attic? If so, there is a good chance that you have a good start towards building a great collection. Old back issues of magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Life, and Time make for great collectible items. Besides the magazine covers, the articles about sports legends, along with advertisements are fascinating snapshots of history. Programs from the early days of baseball and football are especially rare and highly sought after pro sports memorabilia collectibles.
Posters of famous events can be extremely valuable, especially ones that were not distributed to the public, but for use of the venue only. I recently saw a poster for "The Rumble in the Jungle" boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman on eBay for a $6,500 asking price! Ticket stubs have long been collectors favorites due to their small size and limited availability. How many times have you left an event with other people's ticket stubs laying on the ground or in the process of being thrown away? What do you think

ticket stubs will be worth a small fortune, especially when the day comes they are considered vintage! Old equipment such as baseball gloves, bats, golf clubs, and the like are also fun to collect. They invoke memories of childhood and simpler times... But I digress. The bottom line on collecting vintage sports memorabilia, or anything else for that matter, is to find a category that interests you and focus on it to get you started. You can find excellent items online and at antique stores and even some baseball card shops.
